Intelligent Lighting Systems – DALI
DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is an open standard for the control of lighting installations and other building automation systems. Thanks to its individual addressing capabilities and simplified structure, DALI offers significant advantages over other interfaces.
Why Choose DALI
Open Standard
Compatibility Between Devices from Different Manufacturers
Scalability
From a Single Luminaire to Complex Systems
Upgrade Capability
Expansion Without Construction Works
BMS Integration
Part of Building Automation Systems
What is the DALI System?
DALI is a digital communication interface with bidirectional communication between control units and field devices. The standard is open and ensures independence from any specific manufacturer.
The DALI concept is open to new applications and enables the implementation of projects of varying scale – from single rooms to complex lighting installations with multiple circuits.
Addressing
Each device has an individual address
Grouping
Participation in Multiple Logical Groups
Scenes
Predefined and User-Defined Scenarios
Integration
Communication with Building Automation Systems
Control Principles and Operating Modes
Groups
Logical grouping based on function and zones
Individual Control
Independent control of each device
System-Wide Control
Centralised control of all devices at once
System Integration and Expandability
Through a suitable interface to the DALI line, devices without a DALI input can also be connected – including lighting fixtures, blinds, windows, doors, irrigation systems and other end devices controlled via analogue signals or alternative protocols.
The functionality of existing installations can be expanded without the need for construction works.

Intelligent lighting systems built on DALI offer high energy efficiency, easy installation, and flexible control options....
Architecture and Communication
Control Devices (Slaves)
They execute commands directly via the DALI line – controlling lighting, dimmers, relays and other loads. They support DALI, PWM and analogue inputs (e.g. 1–10 V).
Control Devices (Master)
They send commands and exchange data with other modules. Support both Single Master and Multi-Master modes.
DALI Line and Power Supply
Two-wire line for power supply and communication. Half-duplex, asynchronous serial protocol with a free topology.
Commands and Functionalities
DALI enables easy and intuitive lighting control – from everyday operations to intelligent lighting scenarios.
Light Adjustment
Smooth dimming and brightening, or direct setting of a precise brightness level according to the requirements of the space
Dim up / Dim down · Direct arc power
Scenes and Modes
With a single action, a predefined lighting mode can be activated for work, presentations, relaxation or night operation
Scenes 1–16 · Recall Minimum / Maximum Levels
Automation
Combining multiple actions into a single scenario with automated control based on time or integration with other systems
Macros · Logical Scenarios
Colour and Temperature
Adjustment of colour and colour temperature to enhance comfort, atmosphere and energy efficiency
RGB · CCT Control
